The Junior Premier League is England’s largest youth league, with almost 2500 teams taking to the field each weekend. We are a player development-focused league, driving innovation and ensuring every player has a premier experience. We endeavour to be the world’s best provider of competitive opportunities for development and advancement in youth football.

The Junior Premier League is now in its 14th season and from a small beginning, we are now England’s only National league for youth players from U7 to U18 and are the largest league in the country with over 33,000 players.

Our Premier divisions format was designed to match the best teams against one another through competition, promotion and relegation. Based on feedback from our member clubs we introduced these leagues throughout England. Simply, the best teams on and off the pitch play in the most competitive and challenging league in the region.

If you demonstrate commitment, ability and promise in the local league or at one of our unique trials, you’ll be invited to step up into our JPL teams. This provides every player with a clear target to aim for — helping to inspire motivation, progression and ambition at every stage of their journey.

JPL

On September 10th, 2011, the inaugural JPL season commenced with 15 clubs, including Bath City Academy, JSSI, and Yate Town. By the end of the season, they had crowned champions in both League and Cup competitions for Under 12s through Under 16s age groups. Since then, the JPL has expanded significantly, from one league per age group to an average of 12, and from Under 12s-16s to Under 7s-18s.

Their initial success rate of 1 in 12 players signing with professional football club academies has grown to 1 in 11 overall and 1 in 7 for JPL ALL-STAR team players. In their second season, they received inquiries from girls’ teams but were initially denied permission by the FA to operate a girls’ league. After eight seasons, they were finally allowed to start a small girls’ league with seven Under 16s teams. The following season, this league was rebranded as JPL WARRIORS to establish a stronger identity. As of the 2025/26 season, the JPL WARRIORS League includes Under 12s to Under 18s with multiple leagues at most age groups.
